Does WhisperBar work with every app?
Yes. WhisperBar inserts text via the Accessibility API and works in any app with a text field — Notes, Mail, Safari, Slack, VS Code and more.
Which model should I choose?
Choose Qwen3-ASR 1.7B when accuracy comes first, with 30 languages and 22 Chinese dialects. Parakeet v3 is our fast default for 25 European languages. Whisper covers up to 100 languages, depending on the model. If your language is not in the menu, choose “Automatic”.
What is the Enhance feature?
Enhance optionally improves your dictations: grammar, punctuation, self-corrections and formatting suited to the active app. It also respects your Custom Words and spoken instructions. With the on-device model, your text stays on your Mac. You can also choose a CLI integration with your own provider.
Can I edit text I haven’t dictated?
Yes. Select editable text, then use your context menu shortcut to improve it, change its tone, turn it into a list or translate it. You can also type or speak your own instructions. Set the shortcut in Settings → Shortcuts.
Are there subscriptions or hidden costs?
No. WhisperBar costs a one-time €9.99. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no hidden fees. All future updates are included.
Which macOS version is required?
WhisperBar requires macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later.
What devices are supported?
WhisperBar requires an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer) with macOS 15 or later. Intel Macs are not supported. Model speed and memory use depend on your Mac and the selected model. Models are downloaded separately; Qwen3-ASR 1.7B needs about 1.6 GB of disk space.
